Whitehead Cemetery

The Whitehead Cemetery is located on CR 46 1 ½ miles southwest of New Paris, Indiana. It is in the South East ¼ of Section 8, Jackson Township, Elkhart, County, Indiana.

This cemetery was established in 1838. The original cemetery was a Whitehead family cemetery with the first burial being Elizabeth Cart in July of 1838. The original name for the cemetery was Turkey Ridge Burying ground but that name soon fell away.

This transcription was compiled in 2010 by Jeff Keim and Beth Smith. The cemetery was read from east to west and rows were read from south to north. Information found in parentheses indicates items added by the transcribers.

A previous reading of this cemetery was taken but the date of reading is not known. There is a fence along the north side of the cemetery. There is no water pump at this location.
